Will Ferrell Bio
One of our favorite comedians to grace the Saturday Night Live stage, Will Ferrell has built a career as one of the country’s most sought-after comedic actors. Breaking onto the scene in the mid 90s, Ferrell trained at the renowned Groundlings theater in Los Angeles. He caught the eye of SNL producers and joined the cast in 1995. For the next seven seasons he continuously delivered hilarious impressions of George W. Bush, Al Gore, Saddam Hussein and Fidel Castro.
On the big screen, Will Ferrell has starred in a number of box office blockbusters, including Old School, Elf, Anchorman, Talledega Nights, Stranger than Fiction, Blades of Glory, Step Brothers and Anchorman 2. Ferrell is also the co-producer of the HBO series Eastbound & Down and has a recurring role as ‘Ashley Schaeffer.’
In 2007, Will Ferrell launched the video streaming site Funny or Die. The site features exclusive material from a number of famous contributors, including Judd Apatow and James Franco. In 2014, the site posted an exclusive interview with President Barack Obama and Zach Galifianakis discussing the Affordable Care Act. The video accrued more than 11 million views in the first 24 hours.
Throughout his career, Will Ferrell has been nominated for a number of prestigious awards, including, an Emmy, a Tony, two Golden Globes, eight MTV Movie Awards and 14 Teen Choice Awards. In 2011, Ferrell won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
In his free time, Will Ferrell partners with the nonprofit organization Cancer for College, dedicated to donating scholarship money for young cancer survivors to go to college.
